About

"Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you."

Ruth Bader Ginsburg

The purpose of The Civility Initiative is to help heal our fractured country through civil discourse. Over the past few years, we’ve seen our communities become more politically divided. As Michael Dimock, the president of Pew Research Center, and Richard Wike, Pew Research Center’s director of global attitudes research, put it, “Americans have rarely been as polarized as they are today.”

We’ve seen this polarization through family discussions, social media posts, presidential debates, the pandemic, riots, and the US Capital coup. By writing and sharing researched articles, we intend to promote civil discourse about important issues. We strongly hope and believe our nation can heal and unify when individuals are willing to actively listen, research current topics, make informed decisions, and courteously discuss their ideologies.

We hope you will support us by engaging in civil discussions that will “lead others to join [us]” in our fight for change.
